My Number One Tip to Becoming an Outfit Repeater
If you’re anything like me, then getting dressed every morning doesn’t happen without first asking yourself dozens of questions. Questions like, when was the last time I wore this? Did I wear this during the last meeting with the same people? Is this outfit already an #ootd on Instagram?
Yup, I admit it. We’re all human, self-conscious, and care WAY too much what others think. Am I in middle school again?
While building confidence requires way more than reading a few blog posts and pining a couple inspirational quotes on Pinterest, there are baby steps we can all be taking to achieving a higher vibe and self-esteem lever.
As a personal stylist, I’m very aware of how I present myself on a daily basis. The same way a nutritionist watches what they eat, a hair stylist cares for their hair, and a personal trainer watches their weight, my outfits are the foundation for my days.
While getting dressed for a conference this last weekend, I caught myself questioning whether I should wear an outfit that consisted of almost the exact same pieces as one worn a few months ago. Yes, MONTHS AGO. While I contemplated whether I should wear the outfit or not, the answer hit me like a ton of bricks.
My tip for embracing being an outfit repeater is easy: get out of your own head!
Instead of completely disregarding the outfit and moving on, I decided to get out of my own head and wear it anyway. Long story short, I felt amazing, looked amazing, and got dozens of compliments from the other attendees. Not only was the outfit special, but it made me feel amazing. That’s what should always be a priority.
Do yourself, your wardrobe, and the planet a favor and try it out for yourself. Trust me, no one really cares whether you wore that outfit two weeks ago or two years ago. What matters is how you carry, present, and respect yourself.
Happy outfit repeating!
