Outerwear Staples to Transition Your Wardrobe into Fall

It’s finally Fall. Although I love summer, there’s something refreshing (see what I did there?) about chilly nights, shorter days, and the fast-approaching holiday season. I’m also a sucker for bold and beautiful outerwear to transition an outfit from sassy summer to fashionable fall.

If you’re like me, you have no interest in transitioning your entire wardrobe to accommodate for a few cold months. The truth is, retailers have tricked us into believing the idea that our closets should be completely restocked with every changing season, trend, and era.

If you’re looking to add some trendy and timeless pieces to your wardrobe in anticipation for fall, you’re in the right place. I’m sharing my five favorite closet staples to transition your style for the cooler months.

Trench coats

It’s rarely cold enough in Arizona to comfortably rock a trench coat, but it’s a classic and looks good on everyone. Trench coats have the power to transform any outfit into a bold look. If the price of a Burberry coat seems overwhelming, ditch the department store for a thrift shop. You’re likely to come across a quality piece for under $20.

Utility jackets

I’m not usually one to fall for trends, but the military-style craze is one I’m totally here for. Not only is olive green a flattering color on absolutely everyone, but the relaxed fit is the perfect combination of effortless and chic.

Leather jackets

One of my favorite fall/winter closet staples is a leather jacket. I love how it can take any outfit from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds. You can layer a leather jacket over anything. From athleisure for the gym to a dress for the office. A classic black leather jacket is a must in any wardrobe.

Denim jackets

Having a good selection of denim in your closet is key to a multipurpose wardrobe. While denim jeans and shorts are great pieces to keep handy, denim jackets have become one of my go-to layering basics. Make it unique by adding your personal touch. Some ideas are distressing, pinning, or even painting!

Blazers

Suits and blazers have become some of my favorite items to thrift. Not only can they set you back hundreds of dollars at department stores, but they’re incredibly versatile and add a lot of value to your closet. A strong blazer can add professionalism and warmth to your look.
