Why You Need a Chic Work from Home Wardrobe

Since quitting my corporate job almost two years ago, there’s been countless changes, upgrades, and challenges along the way. While no two days are the same, one thing that has remained constant is my work from home dress code.

When I tell people I work from home, most responses go something like this, “that’s awesome, you can work from your couch wearing your pajamas.”

I literally cringe. Do I have the liberty to do that? Yes. Do I want to? HELL NO!

Ever since I was little, I couldn’t wait to get a job so I could do my makeup, get dressed, and SHOW UP. Well, some things don’t work out the way you planned when you were 9, but that’s OK. The universe’s plans are always better than our own.

While my work setting might not be in the high-rise building in the city like I envisioned growing up, that’s no excuse to not dress like I was. Our style does more than express where we are, it tells a story about where we’re going.

Below are three reasons why you need a chic work from home wardrobe.

Do you remember how you felt the last time you put on a fun, special, and powerful outfit? You probably wore it to date night, your friend’s wedding, or that fancy conference you paid hundreds of dollars for. That’s the power of confidence an outfit carries.

A good outfit can help you feel your best which can then translate into creating at your best. Wearing something you feel good in every day can help your mood go from drab to fab, and we all need that transformation every day.

Research has proved that clothes can influence out mood, performance, and productivity. While leggings and hoodies may be comfortable, they’re not the best choice when looking to boost your performance.

In my opinion, when you look your best, you feel your best, and therefore, perform at your best. So, if you’re looking to get out of a rut and start creating the work you know you can, it might be time for a closet cleanout.

While sweat pants might get the work done, they’ll never get you our of your comfort zone. I always have the grandest ideas when I’m wearing an empowering outfit. Working from home can be lonely, which can take a hit on your confidence. Take the power back and show up as the best version of yourself every single day.

You never know what inspirational ideas and projects come from the simple act of trading your hoodie for a blazer.
